Electrical layout with cable lengths and a materials list

ElectroGenius Pro turns the SketchUp model into a ready-to-install electrical layout: devices at standard heights, conduit and tray routes, cable length per circuit and a materials list. The goal is to lay out and take off a flat or a family house in minutes instead of hours, accurately enough to quote from.

This is what we are planning for the first release. Details may still change during development and testing.

Devices at standard mounting heights

Heights are measured from the finished floor: socket 30 cm, switch 105 cm, above the worktop 115 cm (EU preset). You only click the position along the wall; the plugin supplies the wall plane and the height. Switches aligned to doors, 2- to 5-gang frames, evenly spaced runs along a wall, lights in a grid or along a line.

Parametric catalogue

Sockets, switches, light points, boxes, distribution board and dedicated outlets – hob, oven, water heater, air conditioning, EV charger – with European and American items. Every device appears both as a 3D object and as a 2D plan symbol.

Zones and checks

Installation zones in the wall, bathroom zones 0-1-2 around the bath or shower, and a warning when a device lands where it is not allowed. With the US preset, receptacle spacing is checked against the NEC.

Routing

Conduit, flexible conduit, cable tray and trunking drawn by hand, only horizontally and vertically inside walls; the plugin adds the bends. Conduit fill check, and the length of wall chases as a separate quantity.

Circuits and cable length

Circuits from a selection, with ID, type, protection and cable type. Cable length comes from the actual route, with allowance and reserve. For a three-phase supply, phase assignment and balancing, with the imbalance shown.

Materials list and drawings

Devices, boxes, cables rounded up to full reels, conduit and tray, distribution board, grouped by storey, room or circuit. Electrical floor plan per storey, wall elevations with dimensioned heights, and a legend.

Important: ElectroGenius Pro is a design aid. The calculated heights, lengths, loads and lists are for guidance and are not an installation design. A licensed designer and electrician are responsible for designing and installing the electrical system.
